Job summary

Biffa Group is hiring a Shift Leader for the Plastics Recycling Facility. The role operates a 4 on/4 off pattern with 12-hour day and night shifts (07:00–19:00 days, 19:00–07:00 nights).

The role focuses on supervising operations, safety, and continuous improvement to meet site licences and productivity targets. The position offers a competitive salary of £42,110 per year, with opportunities for development across a busy, 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Experience as Shift Supervisor or similar responsibility ideally in waste management.
• Experience of people and health and safety management within a unionised and multi-shift environment.
• Understanding of the waste industry and relevant laws.
• Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPI’s.
• The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision and, most importantly, work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control all plant resources (people and equipment) to maximise productivity.
• Ensure productivity/availability exceed defined KPI standards and drive continuous improvement.
• Control material flow to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of plant operations, settings and stoppages.
• Support maintenance planning and inspections to minimise downtime.
• Demonstrate strong man-management in a demanding environment.
