Job summary

Tesco is seeking a Shift Lead to oversee store operations and lead a team to deliver exceptional customer experiences in a fast-paced retail environment. You will coordinate across departments, support colleagues, and model exemplary service.

This role includes shift leadership in the store manager's absence and promoting a positive, inclusive culture. You’ll be responsible for coaching staff, maintaining high standards, and adapting to changing store needs while prioritising customers,

Tesco Shift Lead pay starts at £15.59 per hour, rising to £16.86 in stores within the M25. Some locations may offer additional payments. We guarantee a minimum of 16 hours per week, though roles from 12 hours are also available.

Your contracted hours will be scheduled within the availability windows shown, with at least 3 weeks’ notice of your shifts. If your availability is close to what we’re looking for, we still encourage you to apply.

You will be responsible for

• Leading the team to deliver a great experience for customers in-store.
• Working across all areas of the store and with all colleagues, being the go-to person for day-to-day operational queries.
• Building positive, inclusive relationships that help colleagues perform at their best.
• Confidently leading the store in the Manager’s absence.
• Making balanced, flexible decisions and adapting well to change.
• Coaching colleagues, giving feedback and role modelling great service.
• Staying curious and seeking opportunities to serve our customers, communities, and planet a little better every day.

You will need

• To be over 18 for this role.
• Experience working in a team lead or management position in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Be a strong role model with a passion for delivering great service and ensuring every customer’s needs are met.
• Build positive, long lasting relationships to create an inclusive, supportive team environment.
• A clear communicator, using a variety of methods to keep the team well informed.
• A natural leader who motivates and inspires the team to deliver outstanding results.
