Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking a Shift Engineer for a leading food manufacturer in Stevenage. The role covers maintenance of high-speed production and packaging lines, with a focus on electrical and mechanical fault finding.

The position offers a 12-hour shift pattern (2 days / 2 nights / 4 off) and a salary of around £52,000, with benefits including pension, life assurance and holiday allowance. Applicants should have FMCG experience and multi-skilled engineering skills.

Qualifications

• Multi skilled engineer with electrical bias and experience in FMCG environments.
• NVQ Level 3 engineering or maintenance minimum.
• Ideally HNC/HND qualification.
• Experience with high-speed production machinery.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of high-speed packaging machinery.
• Work on control panels, HMIs, PLCs, SCADA systems.
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects.

Do you want to work for a leading food manufacturers that is going through a lot of progressive growth with the UK's supermarkets. Due to expansion within the team, they are looking for an electrical biased shift engineer to join.

Role & responsibilities of a Shift Engineer:

• Carry out planned preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance of all high-speed production & packaging machinery
• Working on control panels, HMi's, PLC's, SCADA Systems
• Electrical & mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs
• Continuous improvement projects
• Dealing with motors, VSD's, servo drives, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, inverters
• Mechanical fabrication, fitting, welding

Knowledge, skills & experience need to be a Shift Engineer:

• Multi skilled engineer - ideally electrically biased
• NVQ Level 3 engineering or maintenance minimum
• Ideally HNC / HND qualified
• Must have worked in some form of fast-paced / FMCG manufacturing industry
• Strong electrical & mechanical problem solving skills
• Knowledge of PLC's, automation & control systems, HMi's
• Worked on motors, inverters, VSD's, sensors, switches, pneumatics, gearboxes
