Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking an electrically biased shift engineer in Sudbury to maintain high-speed production lines and automated equipment. You will carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault finding on PLCs/SCADA, and support equipment like conveyors and pumps.

The role requires a multi-skilled engineer with a time-served apprenticeship and City and Guilds Level 3 Electrical, in a food/FMCG or similar fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Must be a multi-skilled engineer with electrical bias.
• City and Guilds Level 3 Electrical is required.
• Time-served apprenticeship completed.
• Minimum 5 years in manufacturing engineering.
• Experience with Siemens/Allen-Bradley PLCs and SCADA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and planned maintenance, electrically and mechanically.
• Work on high-speed production, packaging and automated machinery.
• Deal with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, sensors, inverters, servos, panels, pumps and boilers.
• Perform PLC and SCADA fault finding on electrical systems.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and new machinery installations.

Role And Responsibilities Of a Shift Engineer

• Carry out both preventative and planned maintenance, both electrically and mechanically
• Working on high:speed production, packaging and automated machinery
• Dealing with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, sensors, electrical isolation, inverters, pneumatics, servo drives, control panels, pumps, compressors, steam and boiler systems
• PLC : electrical fault finding on Siemens and Allen Bradley
• SCADA Systems : electrical fault finding
• Continuous improvement projects and new machinery installations and modification work
• Be able to work mechanically on various pipework, fabrication and fault finding

Knowledge, Skills and Experience need to be a Shift Engineer:

• Must be a multi:skilled engineer, electrically biased
• City and Guilds Level 3 Electrical is a minimum requirement
• Must have worked in high:speed production : food, FMCG manufacturing environments
• Completed a time:served apprenticeship
• Minimum 5 years experience as an engineer in manufacturing
• Beneficial to have City and Guilds 2391 Electrical Test and Inspection
• PLC and SCADA Systems : electrical fault finding
• Beneficial to have 17th or 18th Edition Electrical
• Strong team player with a continuous improvement approach
• A good level of mechanical skills : dealing with pipework, gearboxes, drives, pumps, etc
• Able to follow P and ID, electrical and mechanical drawings
