Job summary

Hunter Selection | B Corp™ is seeking a Shift Engineer in Sudbury to maintain high-speed production and automated machinery. The role covers electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault finding on Siemens & Allen-Bradley PLCs, and SCADA systems.

You’ll drive continuous improvement and adapt with new machinery installations. The ideal candidate has a City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical and a completed time-served apprenticeship, with at least five years in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Must be a multi-skilled engineer with electrical bias.
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical is the minimum requirement.
• Experience in high-speed FMCG/manufacturing environments is essential.
• Completed a time-served apprenticeship is required.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an engineer in manufacturing.
• Preferred to have 2391 Electrical Test & Inspection (beneficial).
• PLC & SCADA fault-finding experience required.
• 17th/18th Edition Electrical knowledge is advantageous.
• Strong teamwork and continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to interpret P&ID and electrical/mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and planned maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Maintain high-speed production lines, packaging, and automated machinery.
• Handle conveyors, motors, gearboxes, sensors, electrical isolation, inverters, pneumatics, servo drives, control panels, pumps and pumps.
• Perform PLC fault finding on Siemens & Allen Bradley systems.
• Troubleshoot SCADA electrical faults.
• Lead continuous improvement projects and install/modify machinery.
• Work mechanically on pipework, fabrication, and fault finding.

Role & Responsibilities of a Shift Engineer

• Carry out both preventative and planned maintenance, both electrically & mechanically


• Working on high-speed production, packaging and automated machinery


• Dealing with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, sensors, electrical isolation, inverters, pneumatics, servo drives, control panels, pumps, compressors, steam & boiler systems


• PLC - electrical fault finding on Siemens & Allen Bradley


• SCADA Systems - electrical fault finding


• Continuous improvement projects and new machinery installations and modification work


• Be able to work mechanically on various pipework, fabrication & fault finding

Knowledge, Skills & Experience need to be a Shift Engineer

• Must be a multi-skilled engineer, electrically biased

• Completed a time-served apprenticeship

• Beneficial to have 17th or 18th Edition Electrical


• Strong team player with a continuous improvement approach


• A good level of mechanical skills - dealing with pipework, gearboxes, drives, pumps, etc


• Able to follow P&ID, electrical & mechanical drawings
