Job summary

Hunter Selection is recruiting a Shift Engineer for a leading food manufacturer in Biggleswade. You will maintain high-speed production and packaging lines, diagnose faults across PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA, and implement continuous improvements.

The role requires a multi-skilled engineer with electrical and mechanical capabilities. The position operates on 12-hour Panama shifts (days & nights) with a salary of £54,000 plus overtime and a 5% bonus, plus strong benefits including pension, life

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in engineering or maintenance (minimum).
• Ideally time-served apprenticeship with HNC/HND.
• Experience in fast-paced FMCG manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance on high-speed production and packaging machinery.
• Work on control panels, HMIs, PLCs and SCADA systems.
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding, repairs, and continuous improvement projects.

Do you want to work for a leading food manufacturers that is going through a lot of progressive growth with the UK's supermarkets. Due to expansion within the team, they are looking for shift engineers to join.

Role & responsibilities of a Shift Engineer

• Carry out planned preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance of all high-speed production & packaging machinery
• Working on control panels, HMi's, PLC's, SCADA Systems
• Electrical & mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs
• Continuous improvement projects
• Dealing with motors, VSD's, servo drives, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, inverters
• Mechanical fabrication, fitting, welding

Knowledge, skills & experience need to be a Shift Engineer

• Multi skilled engineer - ideally electrically biased
• NVQ Level 3 engineering or maintenance minimum
• Ideally HNC / HND qualified - time-served-apprenticeship
• Must have worked in some form of fast-paced / Food / FMCG manufacturing industry
• Strong electrical & mechanical problem solving skills
• Knowledge of PLC's, automation & control systems, HMi's
• Worked on motors, inverters, VSD's, sensors, switches, pneumatics, gearboxes
