Job summary

Arla Foods Limited – Arla Stourton Dairy is seeking a Shift Engineer to join the process department and drive maintenance excellence while reducing unplanned downtime. You will own planned and preventive maintenance across process assets, collaborate with operations and engineering colleagues, and support continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

• Must have Modern Advanced Level Apprenticeship to Level3 in Engineering Maintenance or equivalent.
• Proven experience in a maintenance or technical engineering position within a fast-paced production environment.
• Familiarity with maintenance methods (CBM, RCA, FMECA) and CMMS systems including SAP PM.

Responsibilities

• Execute planned and preventive maintenance across process assets (pasteurisers, heat exchangers, valves, pumps, instrumentation).
• Record maintenance activities in SAP CMMS and FastWork; support top-loss reviews and action closure.
• Ensure OEE is realised through data analysis and CI work; lead RCAs and maintain SOPs/SMPs/work instructions.
• Act as safety and food quality ambassador; champion LOTO, Permit to Work and site protocols.
• Provide technical input to CAPEX projects.

Shift Engineer – Process

At Arla Stourton Dairy, we’re looking for a Shift Engineer to join our process department and play a key role in improving maintenance execution and reducing unplanned downtime.

How you will make an impact

In this role, you will take ownership of delivering high‑quality maintenance across our process area. You’ll work collaboratively with operations and engineering colleagues to strengthen our maintenance culture, enhance technical standards, and support continuous improvement across the site.

• Execute planned and preventive maintenance activities across process assets, including pasteurisers, heat exchangers, valves, pumps and instrumentation equipment, driving reliability and minimising downtime through effective planning and execution.
• Use SAP CMMS and FastWork to record maintenance activities and support top‑loss reviews and action closure.
• Ensure OEE is realised through data analysis and effective CI work, including leading RCAs and maintaining technical standards such as SOPs, SMPs and work instructions.
• Act as an ambassador for safety and food quality, championing LOTO, Permit to Work and other site protocols.
• Provide technical input to CAPEX projects.

You are a proactive, technically skilled maintenance professional who takes ownership and enjoys driving improvements. You bring strong problem‑solving abilities and the confidence to collaborate across departments. Ideally, you have completed a Modern Advanced Level Apprenticeship to Level3 in Engineering Maintenance or an equivalent qualification, supported by proven experience in a maintenance or technical engineering position within a fast‑paced production environment. Familiarity with maintenance methodologies such as CBM, RCA, FMECA and the use of CMMS systems—including SAP PM—is also desirable.
