Job summary

SF Group is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for our Coventry site. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance across production equipment, wiring, and automation, ensuring minimal downtime through quick fault diagnosis and effective repairs.

The role requires strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills, a hands-on, independent approach, and the ability to work as part of a rotating 4-on, 4-off days and nights shift. FMCG experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Maintenance Engineering roles such as Shift Engineer or Multiskilled Engineer.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment; FMCG experience is a plus.
• Relevant engineering qualifications; 17th or 18th Edition electrical qualification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and site equipment.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Fault find and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
• Carry out reactive maintenance and repairs.
• Identify root causes of recurring faults and support improvements to equipment reliability.
• Maintain, repair and troubleshoot manufacturing and production machinery.
• Support continuous improvement projects across the site.
• Work with production and other engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Ensure engineering work is completed safely and in line with site procedures.
• Accurately record maintenance activities and work completed.

Maintenance Engineer Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and site equipment
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and engineering issues to minimise production downtime
• Fault find and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults
• Carry out reactive maintenance and repairs
• Identify root causes of recurring faults and support improvements to equipment reliability
• Maintain, repair and troubleshoot a range of manufacturing and production machinery
• Support continuous improvement projects across the site
• Work closely with production and other engineering team members to resolve issues
• Ensure all engineering work is completed safely and in line with site procedures
• Accurately record maintenance activities and work completed

About the Maintenance Engineer

Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Multiskilled Engineer or similar

Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills

Experience within a manufacturing or production environment

FMCG experience would be particularly advantageous

Relevant engineering qualifications

17th or 18th Edition electrical qualification would be advantageous

Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a shift team

Comfortable working a rotating 4 on, 4 off days and nights shift pattern

A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to diagnose and resolve faults efficiently
