Job summary

Ruth Wagstaff Recruitment is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for a food manufacturing client operating a 4 on 4 off rotating days & nights pattern. The role aims to reduce downtime, improve processes, and support continuous improvement across the site.

Essential qualifications include City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 and multi-skilled mechanical and electrical expertise (electrical bias preferred). Apprenticeship training is preferred; FMCG experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide and mentor your shift team to achieve operational excellence

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to reduce downtime
• Monitor processes and equipment, reporting variances and taking corrective action
• Respond swiftly to unplanned breakdowns and maintenance events
• Support engineering projects, installations, and equipment modifications

Job description

A successful food manufacturing company is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a 4 on 4 off rotating Days & Nights shift pattern. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a profitable, stable, and growing business that continues to invest in its people, site, and brand.

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll work in a small team to ensure safety compliance, effective workload prioritisation, and consistently high production standards. You’ll play a key role in reducing downtime, improving processes, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

The company is open to individuals who show strong potential and have transferable skills from other sectors / roles. Some of the company’s most successful recent recruits have come from backgrounds such as commercial electrics or material processing sites, although FMCG experience is highly favourable.
