Job summary

SUEZ in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced plant operator for our energy recovery facility. You will monitor the DCS, operate water-tube boilers, and ensure safe, compliant energy production across start-ups, shutdowns, and routine operations.

The role emphasizes strict adherence to health, safety and environmental standards, with ongoing training, mentorship, and a focus on delivering reliable, low-carbon energy while supporting a diverse and inclusive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in energy recovery, waste-to-energy, power plants, or similar industrial processes (essential).
• Knowledge of boilers, combustion, process control, and relevant health & safety / environmental legislation.
• BOAS Cert IBO and/or IOSH Working Safely qualifications preferred.
• DCS system operation experience (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Monitor, control, and optimise plant processes using the Distributed Control System (DCS), quickly identifying and resolving issues.
• Operate and maintain water tube boilers, including water analysis, chemistry monitoring, and ensuring optimal performance.
• Perform safe system isolations to protect people, plant, and the environment.
• Carry out regular checks, fault diagnosis, and support safe, reliable energy generation during normal operations, start-ups, shutdowns, and emergencies.
• Ensure full compliance with health & safety standards and environmental legislation at all times.
