Job summary

SUEZ is seeking an operator for our Avonmouth Energy Recovery Plant in the UK. You will monitor, control and optimise plant processes using the DCS, while maintaining boilers and ensuring safety, compliance and efficient energy generation.

Qualifications

• Experience in energy recovery, waste-to-energy or similar power plants is essential.
• Knowledge of boilers, combustion, process control, and health & safety/environmental legislation.
• DCS system operation knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, control and optimise plant processes using the DCS and resolve issues quickly.
• Operate and maintain water tube boilers, including water analysis and chemistry monitoring.
• Perform safe system isolations to protect people, plant and the environment.
• Conduct checks, fault diagnosis and support safe energy generation during all operations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation at all times.

What you'll be doing

You’ll help keep our Avonmouth based Energy Recovery Plant running safely and efficiently:

• Monitor, control, and optimise plant processes using the Distributed Control System (DCS), quickly identifying and resolving issues.
• Operate and maintain water tube boilers, including water analysis, chemistry monitoring, and ensuring optimal performance.
• Perform safe system isolations to protect people, plant, and the environment.
• Carry out regular checks, fault diagnosis, and support safe, reliable energy generation during normal operations, start-ups, shutdowns, and emergencies.
• Ensure full compliance with health & safety standards and environmental legislation at all times.

What we're looking for

• Experience in energy recovery, waste-to-energy, power plants, or similar industrial processes (essential).
• Knowledge of boilers, combustion, process control, and relevant health & safety / environmental legislation.
• Preferred: BOAS Cert IBO and/or IOSH Working Safely qualifications
• DCS system operation experience (desired but not essential)
