EQUANS is seeking a Shift Assistant Estate Manager to join the team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on a permanent, full-time basis. You will oversee a 7-person team across electrical, mechanical and fabric disciplines, supporting the Technical Services Managers in delivering high-quality, statutory compliant maintenance services within a multi-disciplinary hard FM environment.

The role requires a background in electrical or mechanical trades, a valid driving licence, and a DBS

• Strong understanding of Hard FM & Lifecycle services.
• Willingness to work shift patterns and on-call requirements.
• DBS check essential for the role.

Responsibilities

• Direct management of a team of 7 across Electrical, Mechanical and Fabric personnel.
• Collaborate with other AEMs to deliver cohesive Estate services.
• Oversee day-to-day performance of the Acute Shift team including planned, corrective and reactive maintenance.
• Direct staff safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards.
• Provide training to staff on relevant subjects to build experience.
• Conduct regular performance meetings and appraisals with team members.
• Manage absence and rota coverage to ensure service continuity.

Equans is looking for a Shift Assistant Estate Manager to join our team based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full‑time role working 39.375 hours per week. This is based on a shift rota working 2 days on (7am-7pm) then 2 nights on (7pm-7am) then 4 days off. On offer is a competitive salary, shift allowance and benefits package. The role is to assist the Technical Services Managers in the provision of Hard FM & Lifecycle Services whilst delivering a high‑quality and statutory compliant maintenance service. The role will include assisting in the operation, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical engineering services whilst working within a multi‑disciplinary hard service team environment. We will consider applicants from either an Electrical or a Mechanical background.

What will you deliver?

• Direct management of a team of 7 that includes Electrical, Mechanical and Fabric personnel.
• Work in collaboration with the other AEM’s to provide an efficient and cohesive service across the Estate.
• Manage the day-to-day performance of the relevant Acute Shift team, assisting as required, including Planned, Corrective and Reactive maintenance tasks.
• Managing, directing, and assisting staff in a safe and efficient manner.
• Deliver training to staff on relevant subjects as appropriate so experience is gained (e.g., toolbox talks & trade specific subject matter).
• Regularly meet with directly employed staff (collectively irrespective of their trade function and individually) to discuss performance and complete employee appraisals.
• Manage absence and utilization within the team effectively ensuring the rota is covered as necessary.
