Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is recruiting a Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, on a permanent basis. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours weekly, with shifts Monday to Thursday 12pm–10pm and three days off, delivering maintenance, repairs and improvements to electrical and mechanical plant and services.

You will bring an approved electrician apprenticeship and the required qualifications, along with DBS clearance.

Qualifications

• Approved apprenticeship in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
• DBS check clearance required.
• Valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake maintenance and repairs of electrical and simple mechanical plant and services.
• Mainly at the Acute Hospital, with duties at the Mental Health unit and Retained Estate as required.
• Carry out works in line with EQUANS KPI's and contract.
• Maintain lighting, sockets and related electrical infrastructure.
• Perform RCD testing and manage theatre shutdown procedures.
• Support maintenance across Mechanical and Fabric disciplines.
• Carry out unsupervised maintenance and report defects to supervisor.

Job description

Equans is looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our team based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. The working hours are Monday - Thursday 12pm - 10pm, followed by 3 days off. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

We are seeking a skilled and qualified Electrician who also brings experience in another engineering discipline such as Mechanical or Fabric to join our team.

What will you deliver?

• Undertake improvement work, maintenance and repairs of electrical and non-complex mechanical plant, services and physical assets including testing and routine fault finding
• The responsibilities will mainly be at the Acute Hospital, but will also include duties at the Mental Health unit and Retained Estate as required by the Estates management team
• Undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services to the NHS Trust
• Carry out all works in compliance with EQUANS’s KPI’s and contract
• Maintain lighting systems, electrical sockets, and related electrical infrastructure.
• Conduct Residual Current Device (RCD) testing and manage theatre shutdown procedures
• Support maintenance and breakdown operations across Mechanical and Fabric disciplines
• Carry out unsupervised maintenance and repairs and report any defects or unusual circumstances to the Supervisor

Who are you?

• Electrical Installation – Approved apprenticeship with either:
  • Base electrical qualifications C&G Part A & B
  • City & Guild 236 Part 1 & 2
  • City & Guilds 2330 / 2365 levels 2 & 3 Diploma
  • EAL Electrical installation QCF Diploma levels 1, 2 & 3 (601/0409/0 & 600/6724/X & 600/9331/6)
• EAL Level 3 Electrotechnical NVQ or C & G 2357 level 3 NVQ
• AM2/JIB Gold Card Approved Electrician
• 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations C& G 2382-18
• Driving licence

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
