Job summary

EQUANS UK & Ireland is seeking a SHEQ Manager to enhance safety, health, environment, and quality across DES projects in the UK. You will lead and mentor teams, drive audit-driven improvements, and ensure regulatory compliance on energy solutions and renewables contracts.

You will work remotely within a collaborative team, coordinating with the central SHEQ function to uphold Equans’ safety culture and industry standards. Flexible working is available.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 5/Diploma Level in Health and Safety management or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in a SHEQ team.
  • Solid experience in construction, renewables, or project management projects.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK SHEQ legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee SHEQ management across designated areas, ensuring standards.
  • Collaborate with head of SHEQ and Central SHEQ to maintain robust systems.
  • Record reportable data (Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, HiPos, LTIs).
  • Develop and implement SHEQ Action Plans for contracts.
  • Use SHEQ audit findings to improve safety and quality processes.
  • Mentor Safety Ambassadors and Responsible Business Champions.
  • Lead investigations and produce comprehensive reports and recommendations.
  • Support internal functions to manage risks effectively.
  • Foster relations with regulators and industry bodies.

Job description

Join Equans, a leading energies and services contractor and a proud member of the global industrial group, Bouygues. With a rich history of excellence in designing, constructing, and maintaining buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide, we are now offering an exciting opportunity for a SHEQ Manager to join our Digital Energies & Services (DES) business.

As a SHEQ Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing operational safety, health, environment, and quality within our DES projects, covering Energy Solutions renewable energy projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee SHEQ management across designated business unit operational areas, ensuring adherence to external and internal standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the head of SHEQ, other SHEQ Managers, and Central SHEQ to maintain robust systems meeting statutory and Equans obligations.
  • Ensure accurate recording of all reportable data (Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, HiPos, LTI’s, Incidents, LSV/MSV) and provide coaching where necessary.
  • Develop and implement SHEQ Action Plans for each contract, fostering safer workplaces and enhancing employee engagement.
  • Utilize findings from SHEQ Audits to improve safety and quality, providing guidance and feedback to enhance processes and systems.
  • Mentor Safety Ambassadors and Responsible Business Champions, promoting a culture aligned with Equans’ values and objectives.
  • Facilitate training initiatives and lead investigations, ensuring comprehensive reports and recommendations to prevent future incidents.
  • Support internal functions to ensure appropriate systems and resources are in place to manage risks effectively.
  • Foster strategic relationships with regulatory bodies and industry forums.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • NVQ 5/Diploma Level in Health and Safety management or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience working within a SHEQ team.
  • Solid experience in construction, renewables, or project management sectors.
  • Proficiency in conducting complex systems audits, both internal and external.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK legislation related to SHEQ.
  • Ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively within a team.
