Job summary

EQUANS is seeking a SHE Coordinator to join the Embedded Energy maintenance team at Fellside CHP plant. You will support the SHEQ Manager, ensuring health and safety compliance across the site and promoting a strong safety culture.

Key activities include conducting inspections, providing SHE guidance, and preparing communications and training materials. The role requires NEBOSH IOSH qualification with industrial experience and good reporting skills.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely with extensive experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience auditing within a legislative framework with targets.
  • Able to deliver training and group presentations.
  • Methodical, accurate and detail-conscious approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong safety culture on site and clarify personal SHE responsibilities.
  • Provide accurate SHE advice, guidance and procedural direction.
  • Represent Equans SHE teams at internal/external forums and report outcomes.
  • Conduct worksite inspections and close-out actions within timescales.
  • Prepare content for SHE communications and training sessions.
  • Be conversant with Equans Safe Working Procedures.

Job description

Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. We have a great opportunity within Equans Embedded Energy for an SHE Coordinator to join our maintenance team at Fellside CHP plant and support SHEQ Manager in overseeing all health and safety issues on site.

Equans Embedded Energy operates multiple customer sites with large-scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. We combine multiple technologies to meet our customers’ specific needs, and provide design, build, operate and maintenance services. Our skills and expertise can help industrial businesses to achieve their carbon reduction goals.

We are experts in many technologies, including combined heat and power (CHP), biomass, and energy from waste. By locating generation on customers’ sites we provide our customers with industry leading safety management, reduced energy costs and carbon footprint and assured energy security for their operational needs.

Key Activities:
  • Work effectively and positively with all Equans employees, customers, contractors, and visitors to promote a strong safety culture and awareness. Maintain a clear understanding of personal SHE responsibilities to oneself, colleagues, and the business.
  • Provide accurate and relevant SHE advice, procedural direction, and guidance.
  • Represent Equans and the SHE teams positively at internal and external forums requiring SHE input. Contribute constructively, complete assigned actions, and report outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Conduct worksite inspections to the required standards and within agreed timescales. Ensure effective communication and close-out of action points.
  • Prepare timely and accurate content for Equans SHE communication channels, including newsletters, electronic updates, meetings, noticeboards, documentation, and training sessions, as required by the business and external agencies.
  • Be fully conversant with Equans Safe Working Procedures following appropriate training.
  • Develop incident investigation skills, produce accurate and timely reports, and ensure effective communication and close-out of recommendations.
  • Support the Environmental Engineer with waste management activities and assist in the management of COSHH-related responsibilities.
Skills, qualifications & experience:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH managing safely with extensive experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience working within a legislative framework with agreed targets.
  • Previously worked as part of a team: contributing to and working with others. Willing to take on tasks to help team/develop self.
  • Experience of auditing.
  • Understanding of risk assessment best practice techniques.
  • Methodical, accurate & detail-conscious approach to work.
  • Able to deliver training and group presentations.
  • Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Completed the required company induction into this role
