Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in the United Kingdom is seeking a Sheeter Operative to join the production team. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will make-ready and run the sheeting machine, and operate forklift/pump trucks as part of a two-person crew.

Key tasks include moving reels, loading and threading, setting machines for efficiency, performing guard checks, maintaining quality, and ensuring safety in line with company policy. The role requires good teamwork and English communication.

Responsibilities

• Move reels from Variomann area to the sheeting area using clamp/pump truck.
• Feed the machine by loading reels and threading paper into the machine.
• Set the machine for optimum efficiency and adjust as required.
• Set up, load and unload the delivery unit using a fork lift truck.
• Carry out regular maintenance tasks and guard checks.
• Perform in-process checks and record papers and data.
• Ensure the quality of sheets produced.
• Set up and operate the guillotine and measure/cut printed materials.
• Keep the workplace clean and tidy and follow safety policies.
• Be flexible to transfer machines and run down manned as per agreement.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Sheeter Operative's job is to make-ready, run the Sheeting Machine and drive fork-lift/pump trucks, being part of the two-man crew performing the following tasks:-

Key Accountabilities

• Moving reels from Variomann print area to sheeting using clamp/pump truck
• Feeding machine - Loading reels and threading paper reel into the machine
• Setting the machine to run for optimum efficiency
• Setting, loading and unloading delivery unit using fork lift truck
• Carrying out regular maintenance tasks/guard checks
• Carry out required in process checks (paper and electronic recording)
• Ensuring total quality of sheets produced
• Setting up and operating the guillotine machine
• Measuring and cutting printed materials
• Keeping workplace clean and tidy
• Responsible for own and others safety, in accordance with Smurfit Westrock policy
• Flexibility to transfer machines and run down manned, as per the Smurfit Westrock/Unite agreement
