Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Whitehaven is inviting applications for an electrician to join our engineering team. You will safely execute planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance to keep our packaging operations running efficiently, complying with local policies and safety standards.

Working as part of a collaborative engineering group, you will help reduce downtime, set up tooling, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in planned, preventive and reactive maintenance on site machinery.
• Able to comply with safety policies and ISO standards.
• Willingness to develop cross-functional mechanical and electrical skills.
• Good housekeeping and accurate maintenance records.

Responsibilities

• Safely execute planned, preventive and reactive engineering tasks on site.
• Ensure compliance with legal and local maintenance policies.
• Work as part of an engineering team to maximize machine efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Set up and calibrate machine tooling for production.
• Liaise with production operators to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Be first point of contact for machinery breakdowns on shift.
• Develop cross-functional mechanical and electrical skills.

Overview

We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our team at our Whitehaven site. We are on the lookout for an electrician to join our team of engineers. The successful candidate will safelyexecute planned, preventative, and reactive engineering tasks in a timely manner. Comply to all legal and local policies & guidance relating to engineering and maintenance. Working proactively as part of an engineering team to ensure maximum machine efficiency (reduce downtime and set-up time).

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensuring the safe execution of planned, preventative, and reactive engineering tasks in a timely manner.
• Comply to all legal and local policies & guidance relating to maintenance and machine setting.
• Working proactively as part of an engineering team to ensure maximum machine efficiency (reduce downtime and set-up time)
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records.
• Maintaining good housekeeping standards and a clean as you go policy.
• Setting and calibration of machine tooling ready for production in a safe and timely manner.
• Liaising with production operators to find root causes and appropriate corrective actions.
• Being the first point of contact for all machinery break downs on your assigned shift.
• Developing cross functional skills (mechanical and electrical)

Qualifications:

• BS7671 IET Wiring Regs (training to 18 th Edition)
• City & Guilds 2391 - Inspection and Testing
• Electricity at Work Regs
• Safe isolation training
