Job summary

JMC Aviation is seeking a Sheet Metal Worker for permanent, full-time employment at London Luton Airport, England. The role involves working under a Certifying Engineer to perform complex sheet metal repairs on various aircraft, following structural repair manuals and drawing interpretations.

The candidate will need strong SMW hand skills, an aviation maintenance background, and familiarity with Part 145 regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal work on fabricated parts including assembly fixtures, drilling, deburring, filling insets and general SMW activities.
• Maintain work area, equipment and records audit-ready.
• Manufacture and fabricate aircraft SMW parts, panels, doors from various aircraft.
• Interpret customer specifications and technical drawings.
• Carry out maintenance, repairs, fabrication of parts to technical data standards.
• Ad hoc project work within the role scope.

About The Role

Working with and under the guidance of the Certifying Engineer on the aircraft as allocated. Supporting them with all aspects of Aircraft Maintenance performed by the Company. The role will involve having an in depth understanding of the structural repair manual, along with the necessary hand skills to complete complex repairs on a variety of aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal work activities on fabricated parts including assembly fixtures, drilling, deburring, filling insets and general SMW activities.
• Maintain work area, equipment and records to be audit ready.
• Manufacture and fabricate aircraft SMW parts, panels, doors etc from various services aircraft.
• Ability to understand and interpret customer specifications and technical drawings
• Be able to carry out maintenance, repairs, fabrication of parts and /or production tasks to the standard specified in the technical data and notify supervisors of defects or mistakes requiring rectification.
• Ad hoc project work as required within the scope of the role

Candidate Requirements

• Excellent SMW hand skills
• Proven work history in an aviation maintenance environment
• Understanding of regulatory requirements in relation to Part 145
• Understanding of Health & Safety, Human Factors and Compliance requirements
• A recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or similar
