Job summary

Babcock International is seeking a SHE Advisor to provide assurance, governance and specialist health and safety guidance across a complex operational environment. You will oversee safety risks, support continuous improvement, and engage with a wide range of stakeholders to promote safe, compliant delivery of critical programmes at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

This full-time, on-site role requires NEBOSH Construction certification and the ability to obtain SC security clearance.

Job description

As a SHE Advisor, you’ll provide assurance, governance and specialist advice that helps ensure legal, contractual and organisational health and safety requirements are met. Working across a complex operational environment, you’ll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support safe, compliant and effective delivery across the business. Day-to-day, you’ll provide independent oversight and assurance activities that help identify both compliance and improvement opportunities across operational areas. This is an excellent opportunity to build on your health and safety expertise within a dynamic defence and engineering environment, while working with a wide range of stakeholders to drive positive safety outcomes. Your work will directly support the management of health and safety risks, helping protect people, operations and the delivery of critical programmes.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

• Demonstrable experience conducting health and safety audits within complex operational environments.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, standards and contractual requirements.
• Experience identifying non‑compliance and producing clear audit reports and management information.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with managers, employees, suppliers and partners.
• Experience engaging with external authorities such as the Health and Safety Executive, fire service and local regulators.

Qualifications for the SHE Advisor

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC)) security clearance for this role.
