Job summary

Babcock is seeking a SHE Advisor to join its Defence and engineering teams in Plymouth. The role involves providing assurance, governance and specialist health and safety advice to ensure compliance with legislation, standards and contractual requirements across a complex operational environment.

You will work with a wide range of stakeholders to drive positive safety outcomes and protect people, operations and programmes.

Job Title: SHE Advisor

Location: Plymouth, Devon

Compensation: £44,600 - £55,800 Depending on Experience + Benefits

The role

As a SHE Advisor, you'll provide assurance, governance and specialist advice that helps ensure legal, contractual and organisational health and safety requirements are met. Working across a complex operational environment, you'll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support safe, compliant and effective delivery across the business.

Day-to-day, you'll provide independent oversight and assurance activities that help identify both compliance and improvement opportunities across operational areas. This is an excellent opportunity to build on your health and safety expertise within a dynamic defence and engineering environment, while working with a wide range of stakeholders to drive positive safety outcomes. Your work will directly support the management of health and safety risks, helping protect people, operations and the delivery of critical programmes.

• Conduct health and safety audits across a variety of business operations and supplier environments.
• Identify compliance and non-compliance issues, providing clear feedback and recommendations for improvement.
• Produce audit reports and management information to support decision-making and performance monitoring.
• Support the deployment and continual improvement of health, safety and environmental management systems.
• Engage with managers, employees, suppliers, partners and regulatory bodies to promote safe and compliant working practices.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard .

Essential experience of the SHE Advisor

• Demonstrable experience conducting health and safety audits within complex operational environments.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, standards and contractual requirements.
• Experience identifying non-compliance and producing clear audit reports and management information.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with managers, employees, suppliers and partners.
• Experience engaging with external authorities such as the Health and Safety Executive, fire service and local regulators.

Qualifications for the SHE Advisor

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC)) security clearance for this role.
