Job summary

Future Engineering Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Setting Out Engineer for a major Somerset project. You will take ownership of site engineering activities, focusing on accurate surveying across groundworks, foundations and structural works.

You will work with the project team to resolve technical queries, verify drawings and maintain comprehensive survey records, supporting progression into senior engineering roles.

Qualifications

• Experience as Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer on construction projects.
• Confidence using total stations, GPS equipment and levelling instruments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and coordinate with site teams.
• Background in civil engineering or a related construction discipline.

Responsibilities

Join an established main contractor delivering a major construction project in Somerset. This is an excellent opportunity for a Setting Out Engineer looking to take ownership of site engineering activities while developing their career on a technically challenging build.

Work closely with an experienced project team, supporting the accurate delivery of groundworks, foundations and structural packages. You'll join a business with a strong pipeline of work and opportunities to progress into senior engineering and project management positions.

Your Role as a Setting Out Engineer Will Include:

• Carrying out setting out and surveying duties across groundworks, foundations and structural works.
• Checking drawings, dimensions and levels to ensure works meet design specifications.
• Working closely with site management and subcontractors to resolve technical queries.
• Maintaining accurate survey records, as-built information and quality documentation.

As a Setting Out Engineer You Will Have:

• Experience as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer on construction projects.
• Confidence using total stations, GPS equipment and levelling instruments.

• The ability to commute to a site near Bridgwater.
