Rate: £275 – £325 per day + DIG Allowance (if required)
Contract Type: Freelance / Contract

Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for multiple Setting Out Engineers on behalf of a leading groundworks and civil engineering subcontractor delivering works on a major EV Battery Storage Facility in Bridgwater. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high profile infrastructure project with a well-established contractor known for delivering large scale groundworks and civil engineering packages across the UK.

The successful candidates will play a key role in ensuring the accurate setting out and delivery of groundworks, drainage, roads, foundations and associated infrastructure works, working closely with the site engineer and project engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting out for groundworks and civil engineering works across the project.
• Establishing and maintaining site control and survey points.
• Setting out foundations, drainage, roads, kerbing and external works.
• Checking line and level accuracy throughout construction.
• Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Producing and maintaining accurate site records and as-built information.
• Conducting quality checks and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design requirements.
• Liaising with Site Managers, Project Managers and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Identifying and resolving engineering and setting out issues on site.
• Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with health and safety requirements.

About You

• Previous experience working as a Setting Out Engineer within groundworks or civil engineering.
• Strong understanding of foundations, drainage, roads and infrastructure packages.
• Competent using Leica, Trimble or Topcon surveying equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience working for a groundworks or civil engineering subcontractor is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
• CSCS card as a minimum.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
