Job summary

NRL is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join an infrastructure project on a contract basis. Based at Wilton, you’ll manage site setting out and survey activities, develop control networks, and interpret complex drawings to ensure design tolerances are met.

Immediate start for a 6–12 month contract with potential weekend work. The role requires hands-on surveying with Total Stations, GPS and laser equipment, strong communication, and a UK driving license.

Qualifications

• Must have previous setting out engineer experience on major infrastructure, construction or civil projects.
• Skilled in using Total Stations, GPS and surveying instruments.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Competence in processing survey data with engineering software.
• Knowledge of earthworks, drainage, foundations and structures.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out and surveying across multiple work areas.
• Establish site control points and survey networks.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and design data.
• Ensure works meet design tolerances and project requirements.
• Conduct topographical and as-built surveys.
• Collect measurements using Total Stations, GPS and laser equipment.
• Upload, process and manage survey information using software tools.
• Produce setting out records, as-built drawings and quality documentation.
• Liaise with Site Managers, Engineers, Subcontractors and Design Teams.
• Monitor levels, line and alignment during construction phases.

• SMSTS or SSSTS, First Aid certification

• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, Surveying or a related discipline
