Job summary

Arcona Group Ltd is seeking a Setting Out Engineer for a long-term role on a major residential project in Battersea. You will operate as a self-employed professional delivering precise setting out across foundations, slabs, columns and cores with strong drawing interpretation and QA records.

You will establish control points, coordinate with site teams and subcontractors, maintain logs, monitor progress and ensure compliance with project specs and temporary works requirements over a 55-hour week.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum 4 years of experience in setting out/site engineering.
• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or similar.
• Proven experience with large concrete/RC frame projects.

Job description

My client is a leading structures business in the UK and are working on a major residential project in Battersea.

I am looking for a Setting Out Engineer to join their team on a long term basis. My client will pay you as a self employed individual but they are looking for someone to make a career move and not for a few weeks work.

The Project

£100m + Major Residential Project with multiple phases over many years, public realm, parking and commercial space.

• Set out all structural elements including foundations, slabs, columns, walls, cores, and temporary works.
• Interpret, check, and verify construction drawings, ensuring accuracy before works begin.
• Establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, and site grids throughout the project.
• Carry out as‑built surveys and produce accurate records for QA and client handover.
• Coordinate with site management, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure works meet required tolerances.
• Monitor progress against design information, flagging discrepancies early.
• Support quality assurance processes, ensuring works are built correctly first time.
• Maintain daily setting‑out logs, inspection sheets, and survey data.
• Assist with planning and sequencing of reinforced concrete operations.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, temporary works requirements, and industry standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years experience
• Degree Qualified in Civil Engineering or Similar
• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer/Site Engineer
• Must have worked for a big player in the Concrete/RC Frame Sector.

My client will pay £27-£30ph and operate on a 55 hour working week. They will pay you directly as a self employed worker
