Job summary

Loughborough College Group is hiring Learning Support Assistants to support students with learning difficulties and disabilities across our campuses. The role covers notetaking, in-class and online support, and assisting with personal care and mobility where required.

Successful candidates will contribute to individual learning plans, work with course tutors, and maintain professional, confidential support. DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 qualification and GCSE grades in Maths and English.
• Experience supporting students with learning difficulties or disabilities is desirable.
• Safeguarding awareness or training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support and online assistance to individuals and groups.
• Notetaking and mobility/personal care support as needed.
• Support development of individual learning programmes with tutors.
• Communicate any concerns to Support Coordinators and maintain confidentiality.

Job description

The Learning Support team are seeking to recruit Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), to join them in providing a range of high-quality support to students with identified learning difficulties and/or disabilities anytime across the working week, Monday - Friday 08:45 - 16:30.

We are interested in hearing from individuals who can work at one or multiple of our campus' (Brooksby College, Loughborough College, Stephenson College).

You will support students across a range of courses from Entry level to Level 3 / A Level who have learning difficulties and disabilities. These include Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Hearing Impairments, Visual Impairments and Physical Impairments. The successful candidates will provide in-class support and online support to individuals and groups of students, which includes notetaking, assisting with personal care and mobility support.

Responsibilities of this role include:

• To support students in a sensitive, professional, discrete and confidential manner
• To encourage personal and academic independence, self-empowerment and self-help skills wherever possible
• To contribute to the development of individual learning programmes in liaison with Support Coordinators and course tutors
• To ensure that students are receiving the appropriate level of support and report any issues to the Support Co-ordinators
• Experience of working with young people
• Have a sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures
• You must possess at least a Level 2 qualification, GCSE grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English
• You will have a flexible and can-do approach; be committed to teamwork
• Have a positive approach towards all students.
• Excellent communication skills that enable you to work effectively with a range of students and staff.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to undertake further training where identified.
