Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a mainstream college in Cambridge to recruit a Learning Support Assistant. The role focuses on supporting learners with difficulties to access the curriculum and progress to higher education or employment.

Immediate start on a temporary contract with potential for permanent placement. You will be expected to have Level 3 or equivalent, DBS with update service, and strong knowledge of T-Levels, with the ability to manage diverse classroom activities and support

Qualifications

• Level 3 or equivalent relevant subject.
• DBS check and update service.
• Experience supporting college tutors in practical courses.
• Broad experience with personal care and learning support work.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of a T-Level course.

Responsibilities

• Support students with learning difficulties to access the curriculum and achieve their programme.
• Assist tutors to deliver lessons and manage classroom activities effectively.
• Support KS5 learners to progress toward further education or employment.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment and monitor progress.

The college is looking for a supportive and motivated Learning Support Assistant on a temporary contract, leading to a permanent position for the right Learning Support Assistant. To help provide the tutor and the pupils with the best learning experience the college has to offer, the successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of T-levels at a Key Stage 5 / KS5 and great communication skills. The role will directly impact the students pass rating allowing them to move into full time employment or on to higher education.

Support students with learning difficulties and disabilities to become empowered so that they can fully access the curriculum and successfully achieve their programme of study through their development of greater independence

The successful Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will have :

• Level 3 or equivalent relevant subject
• DBS and on update service
• Experience supporting College tutors in a wide range of practical courses
• A broad experience with personal care and learning support work
• A strong knowledge and understanding of a T-Level course
