We are currently recruiting for a Service Technician to join our team based in Warrington. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance regimes as determined by contract terms on lift/escalator equipment. They will also be responsible for completing Schindler safety inspections and closing any open non-conformities to current legislation or standards. Additionally, they will oversee improvements in equipment condition to enhance the time between technical call-backs and reduce lift equipment downtime. The role includes minor repair work and lifecycle replacement of components. The technician must adhere to all company safety and conduct procedures and provide coverage on an ’on call’ rota for out-of-hours calls, maintenance, and repairs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repairs and routine replacement of components in accordance with approved procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc).
  • Rectify and reduce faults on lift/escalator equipment during breakdowns and check to confirm correct functioning.
  • Check lift/escalator functions as part of maintenance, including speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, and power supplies using approved tools and protective equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and adjustments of lift/escalator equipment following approved procedures.
  • Reinstall lift/escalator and complete service documentation.
  • Conduct advanced fault finding and diagnostics using various techniques, manuals, and test equipment to restore equipment to service. Competence in interpreting written or graphical information is required.
  • Carry out site surveys and attend relevant training to stay updated on technical knowledge and skills.
  • Work in accordance with company safety and environmental policies to ensure compliance with UK legal requirements and Schindler safety standards, setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
  • Contribute to safety objectives by maintaining and monitoring safety systems and implementing changes to the safety management system where applicable.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in lift/escalator servicing, maintenance, or repairs is preferred.
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in lift/escalator maintenance or equivalent.
  • Willing to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi-brand equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and operate efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive lifting and operating hand and power tools, and recording information.
  • Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good administrative skills and punctuality.
