Job summary

Crane Payment Innovations (CPI) is seeking a Field Service Technician I to support the Sheffield and wider UK area. You’ll service, repair, upgrade and perform preventative maintenance on coin and currency equipment, ATMs and related software at client sites, coordinating with local branch teams.

The role requires strong electromechanical aptitude, excellent communication, and the ability to travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a technical/field service role or similar technical field.
  • Ability to access highly secured environments; licenses may be required.
  • Strong electromechanical aptitude with good problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; customer-first attitude.
  • Proficient with iOS, MS Office and Windows OS.
  • Ability to travel domestically within the UK and work independently as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Service, upgrade and perform preventative maintenance on electromechanical equipment.
  • Travel daily by vehicle to client sites (90%), overnight travel (10%).
  • Collaborate with branch sales and service teams to meet client needs.
  • Respond to contract timeframes and service requests.
  • Cover extended hours and on-call duties as applicable.
  • Maintain vehicle parts inventory and keep the vehicle clean and serviced.
  • Safeguard company assets including tablets and mobile phones.
  • Perform any other duties as required.

We are looking for a full‑time Field Service Technician I to service the Sheffield, Derbyshire and wider UK area.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The Field Service Technician is responsible for servicing, fixing, upgrading and performing preventative maintenance on various types of equipment such as coin & currency equipment, ATMs, software and specialised office products located at client sites in the UK and surrounding area. To guarantee ongoing success, you will work in coordination with branch sales and other service team members.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Service, upgrade and perform preventative maintenance on company electromechanical equipment
  • Travel by vehicle, daily, to client sites (90%) with overnight travel as needed (10%) – some long drive times are encountered depending on the geographical territory covered
  • Work with branch employees to satisfy client needs
  • Address customer service requests within the specified contract response time
  • Extended hours coverage periods and ‘On‑call’ duty where applicable
  • Safeguard and maintain a balanced vehicle stock parts inventory
  • Upkeep and cleanliness of company‑issued vehicle including scheduled service intervals
  • Safeguarding of any company‑issued assets including tablet computer and mobile phone
  • All other duties as required
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of working in a technical/field service position or similar technical profession
  • Impeccable integrity
  • Must be able to gain access to highly secured environments; occupational licenses may be necessary depending on territory/accounts
  • Strong electromechanical aptitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a positive, customer‑first attitude
  • Personable, approachable and able to work easily with others at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail – able to proof and prioritise your own work
  • Proficient in iOS, MS Office applications and Windows OS
  • Ability to set and track goals independently, initiate and follow through on assignments without coaching, and work proactively as a team player
  • Able to commit to and meet project deadlines
Physical Requirements
  • Available for periodic travel to our corporate office in Coventry for training classes
  • Able to lift, push or carry a minimum of 25 kg such as large money counting machines and parts in and out of client sites
  • The job requires kneeling, bending, twisting, lifting and squatting to service equipment on the ground up to 60 % of the time
  • Hand and wrist dexterity needed to turn screwdrivers and place parts and equipment
  • Phone or desk work about 10 % of the time doing computer work, bench repair work, parts stocking, tracking service calls and setting up appointments
  • Ability to stand for long periods up to 75 % of the time while servicing some equipment
