Job summary
Ingersoll Rand Compressor Systems & Services is seeking an experienced Service Technician to join our field team in the Northwest region. The role involves maintenance, breakdowns, and commissioning on all makes of compressed air equipment, primarily across the North West with some travel and overnight stays.
The ideal candidate has extensive compressed air knowledge and strong diagnostic skills. You will work from the Preston office, performing repairs and preventive maintenance, while
Qualifications
- Minimum HNC level in an Electrical/Electronic/Instrumentation or Electromechanical discipline.
- Proven diagnostic skills on complicated electrical/mechanical systems.
- Extensive product knowledge within the compressed air industry.
- PC literate; Full driving license.
- Travel and overnight stays may be required; field-based role from Preston Office.
Responsibilities
- Attend customer sites to perform breakdown repairs on all compressed air generating equipment.
- Attend customer sites to perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
- Maintain verbal and written communications with customers in a professional manner.
- Liaise with technical or office-based personnel to clarify job requirements.
- Liaise with customers to obtain approval before work.
- Operate in accordance with company EHS guidelines.

The opportunity has arisen to join the Ingersoll Rand Family. We are now looking for an experienced Compressed Air Field Service Engineer to join the team. Responsible for Maintenance, Breakdowns & Commissioning on all makes of Compressed air equipment. The role will mainly cover the north west of England however some further travel and overnight stays may be required. The ideal candidate will have experience in all types of compressed air technologies.
- To attend the customer’s site to perform breakdown repairs on all compressed air generating equipment.
- To attend the customer’s site to perform preventative maintenance on all compressed air generating equipment.
- Maintain verbal and written communications with customers and others as seen necessary in a professional manner
- Liaise with the technical or office-based personnel to achieve a clear understanding of specific job requirements as necessary
- Liaise with customers to ensure that any work is done with their approval
- Operate in accordance with company EHS guidelines
- Minimum HNC level in an Electrical/Electronic/Instrumentation or Electromechanical discipline
- Proven diagnostic skills on complicated electrical/mechanical systems
- Extensive product knowledge within the compressed air industry

- Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
- Field based role, operating out of our Preston Office
- Must be willing to travel extensively in north west England region with overnight stays as required
- Ability to work alone possessing a balanced judgement

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the compressed air industry
- Ability to communicate well and deal with others
