Job description

Please note that the advertised salary for this position is subject to the pending 2026/2027 national pay award. The final salary will be adjusted accordingly once this has been agreed.

A full-time opportunity has arisen within the Corporate Service Support Team for a full time permanent Service Support Officer. Corporate Service Support provides administrative support to all areas of the Council, but this role will primarily provide support to the Asset Management and Development service, within the Growth and Enterprise Unit of the County Council, around the use of council owned land and buildings.

About the role:

The Service Support Officer will be expected to undertake a variety of administration duties associated with a busy office environment, including overseeing email accounts; responding to telephone calls; handling incoming and outgoing correspondence; setting up meetings; minute taking and dealing with administrative duties relating to council owned land and properties. The postholder will also be required to input, update and extract information from IT systems (specifically Asset Manager, Civica Financials and Civica Purchasing); collate data including financial information; maintain electronic database records and where appropriate website-based records.

About the Candidate:
  • We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working within an administrative/local authority setting with a minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent.
  • The opportunity would suit someone who is methodical, has good attention to detail, a high level of computer literacy, good communication skills and an enthusiastic and positive approach to work.
  • A background in property would be a distinct advantage.

The nature of Corporate Service Support means that the candidate will need to be flexible and there may be a requirement to support other teams, depending on the need. The post is subject to hybrid working and there will be a requirement to attend Council offices to meet the demands of the role.

We are committed to developing our people and will not only provide support to enable you to quickly and confidently take ownership of this role’s key areas of responsibility but in addition, we are committed to supporting your development in order that you can progress your career with us.

In exchange for your skills and commitment, we will offer you a range of employee benefits, including hybrid working, competitive annual leave allowance and a generous pension contribution scheme.
