Qualifications

At Babcock, we're working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as a Service Support Engineer (CI&E) at our Rosyth Babcock LGE site and contribute to our mission.

The role

The Service Support Engineer reports directly to the Warranty Manager (Rosyth, Scotland). Working closely with the CI&E and Projects Departments, the engineer provides warranty and aftersales support to our client's vessels, both remotely and on board during construction, in-service, and dry-docking contracts.

This role may require extensive travel; when not traveling, it is mainly office-based at William Rankine Building, Rosyth, providing internal department support and remote client support.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
  1. Monitoring incoming enquiries through the Warranty and AfterSales inboxes, supporting Project, Warranty, and AfterSales Engineers by investigating CI&E issues and troubleshooting for clients.
  2. Assisting with internal and external correspondence related to warranty and aftersales.
  3. Maintaining project-specific warranty spreadsheets and claim closure documentation.
  4. Identifying and specifying replacement materials to resolve warranty and aftersales issues.
  5. Liaising with Procurement and managing the 'Warranty' and AfterSales Central database throughout the replacement, ordering, and shipping process.
  6. Preparing troubleshooting guides for common problems and providing feedback to design and engineering teams.
  7. Coordinating vessel attendance with clients when required.

This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week.

Essential experience
  • Engineering background, preferably marine.
  • Hands-on technical skills in Electrical and Control (PLC) Systems, including Hazardous Area Equipment.
  • Experience servicing/calibrating HART protocol instrumentation.
  • Experience with Low and Medium Voltage switchboard equipment.
  • Clear and confident communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Qualifications
  • Practical experience in a marine environment as a CI&E engineer or in a similar role, ideally in commissioning.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
