Job summary

Holtmon Jones is seeking an experienced Service Supervisor to lead a team of Field Service Technicians across the Midlands and surrounding areas. The role combines hands-on technical work with supervision to ensure safe, efficient field service delivery on surface drilling equipment.

You will travel UK-wide with overnight stays, providing leadership, diagnostics and customer-focused service while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a field service environment across mining or heavy equipment.
• Proven track record in supervising and mentoring field technicians.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Ability to work hands-on in the field while coordinating other technicians.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support a team of Field Service Technicians.
• Remain hands-on in the field, carrying out maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.
• Support machine inspections, commissioning and customer service activities.
• Provide technical guidance for complex equipment issues.
• Coordinate workloads and field service activities to maximise uptime.
• Engage with customers to gather requirements and improve equipment availability.
• Coordinate with Service Administration on work orders and communications.
• Ensure accurate service documentation and reporting.

The Opportunity

A leading global engineering and mining equipment business is looking for an experienced Service Supervisor to join its UK team.

This is a genuine working supervisor position, combining hands-on technical expertise with the day-to-day supervision and coordination of a team of Field Service Technicians.

The role will have a particular focus on the surface drilling sector, with the successful candidate spending the majority of their time in the field, working alongside Technicians and customers across mining and quarry sites throughout the Midlands and surrounding areas.

You will play a key role in ensuring field service activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while providing technical support and leadership to the wider service team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support a team of Field Service Technicians
• Remain hands-on in the field, carrying out maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs
• Support machine inspections, commissioning and customer service activities
• Provide technical guidance and assistance with complex equipment issues
• Coordinate and prioritise workloads and field service activities
• Work closely with customers to understand requirements and maximise equipment availability and performance
• Liaise with Service Administration to coordinate work orders, scheduling and customer communications
• Ensure accurate service documentation and reporting
• Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture across all field activities
• Ensure company policies, procedures and compliance requirements are consistently followed
• Support selected mining and quarrying operations across the UK
• Develop strong working relationships with customers, Technicians and internal teams
• Provide leadership, direction and support to the field service team

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced service professional who is comfortable working on the tools while also taking responsibility for leading and supporting others.

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience within a field service environment
• Experience working with mining, quarrying or heavy mobile equipment
• Previous experience supervising, coordinating or mentoring Field Service Technicians
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Experience with surface drilling equipment, ideally within the mining sector is desirable
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
• Good customer-facing and communication skills
• The ability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively
• A strong commitment to health, safety and compliance
• The ability to work independently while also supporting and developing a team

This is a field-based position covering mining and quarry sites across the Midlands and surrounding areas. Regular travel is required, including overnight stays, with occasional weekend working depending on customer and operational requirements.
