Job summary

MTS Recruitment Limited in West London is seeking an experienced Electrical Service Engineer to service, repair and commission specialist rail machinery for UK and international sites.

The role requires travel, on-call duties, and a proactive approach with a strong safety mindset. An apprenticeship and a full driving licence are essential.

The position is permanent and full-time, offering £40,000–£43,000 base salary plus overtime and a company van with a fuel card.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience as an Electrical Service Engineer or similar.
• Strong background in electrical/electronic systems, with knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• Full, clean manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs, fault finding, and modifications to machinery and equipment.
• Commission new, modified, and repaired equipment.
• Provide remote technical support and attend customer sites as required.
• Complete accurate service reports and documentation.
• Travel extensively across the UK and internationally when required.
• Participate in an on-call rota to support out-of-hours requirements.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Service Engineer to join a specialist engineering service team. Based in West London, this well-established engineering organisation is a recognised leader in the design, supply, and maintenance of advanced rail infrastructure machinery. Supporting major rail networks across the UK and internationally, the company is known for its innovation, high-quality equipment, and long-standing reputation within the rail sector.

The Role

As an Electrical Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing service, repair, and commissioning support on specialist machinery and equipment. You will ensure all customer requirements are met with a professional, efficient, and safety-focused approach.

• Carry out repairs, fault finding, and modifications to machinery and equipment
• Commission new, modified, and repaired equipment
• Provide remote technical support and attend customer sites as required
• Complete accurate service reports and documentation
• Work independently and collaboratively within a skilled engineering team
• Travel extensively across the UK and internationally when required
• Participate in an on-call rota to support out-of-hours requirements

Requirements

Essential:

• Proven experience as an Electrical Service Engineer or similar role (minimum 3 years)
• Strong background in electrical/electronic systems, with knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship
• Full, clean manual driving licence
• Flexible, professional, and reliable approach

Desirable:

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Engineering or Electrical discipline
• Experience servicing heavy plant or specialist machinery
• Strong electronics knowledge and computer literacy
• Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
