Service Operations Manager at Equans

Equans is seeking a Service Operations Manager to join our Digital business, managing one of our BMS Engineering teams based in the Midlands on a permanent, full-time basis.

Equans Digital is an innovative SME within a large multinational group, focused on growth. We enhance user experiences by integrating disruptive digital technology and data insights to deliver cost-effective solutions that improve building and energy performance. Our approach involves connecting building systems via our SaaS platform, IoT sensors, and integrated solutions to transform traditional energy and service models.

Role Overview

The Service Operations Manager reports to the Head of Maintenance, working within the Maintenance and Small Works (MSW) business stream, mainly overseeing service contracts, reactive, and small works. The role manages a team of engineers in Southern England.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Attend client operational meetings
  2. Maintain customer relationships and order book growth
  3. Plan and ensure efficient resource allocation
  4. Participate in team meetings and labour forecasting
  5. Price projects and additional works
  6. Retain engineers through personnel management and appraisals
  7. Assist in recruitment
  8. Promote growth through quotations and customer engagement
  9. Ensure out-of-hours engineer coverage and staffing for call-outs
  10. Provide technical support to engineers
Qualifications & Skills

Applicants should have a background in BMS and supervisory experience, ideally with an HND in engineering and familiarity with Trend, Siemens, Cylon, or Priva equipment. Essential skills include:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage team workloads
  • Customer relationship management
  • IT literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in service environments
  • Electrical knowledge and awareness of IEE Regulations
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and controls
  • Health and safety awareness
