Job summary

St Peter & St James Hospice invites applications for an experienced Service Improvement and Development Manager. You will lead strategic improvement projects across the hospice, manage key Vantage modules, and drive transformational initiatives that enhance patient care and operational effectiveness.

The role includes implementing Electronic Prescribing in the Inpatient Unit, delivering a new IT/telephone system with an external provider, and collaborating with senior teams to deliver priorities

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience.
• PRINCE2, APM or equivalent qualifications.
• Significant experience managing multiple healthcare projects and programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver strategic service improvement and transformation projects across the Hospice.
• Project manage implementation of Vantage modules: FM Helpdesk, Asset Management, Contract Management, PM, Medical Devices.
• Manage the Hospice Improvement Programme, including capital works projects.
• Lead Electronic Prescribing implementation within the Inpatient Unit to improve patient safety.
• Project manage delivery of a new IT/telephone system with external IT provider.
• Collaborate with senior leaders and clinical teams to deliver priorities.
• Develop project plans, manage risks, monitor progress and keep to budget.

The Vacancy

Are you an experienced project and improvement professional who is passionate about delivering meaningful change in healthcare?

At St Peter & St James Hospice, we're looking for a dedicated Service Improvement and Development Manager to lead and deliver a range of high-priority transformation and improvement projects that directly support our strategic objectives and enhance the care we provide to patients and families.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across the Hospice, driving innovation, improving services, implementing new systems and supporting sustainable change that makes a real difference to patient care and operational effectiveness.

• Hours: 37.5 hours per week
• Contract: 12 Months Fixed Term

What you\'ll be doing

• Lead and deliver a range of strategic service improvement and transformation projects across the Hospice.
• Project manage the implementation of key Vantage modules, including FM Helpdesk, Asset Management, Contract Management, Planned Preventative Maintenance and Medical Devices.
• Manage the Hospice Improvement Programme, including capital works projects across the organisation.
• Lead the implementation of Electronic Prescribing within the Inpatient Unit, supporting significant changes to clinical practice and improving patient safety.
• Project manage the delivery of a new IT and telephone system in partnership with our external IT provider.
• Work closely with senior leaders, clinical teams, care services and support departments to deliver agreed improvement priorities.
• Develop project plans, manage risks, monitor progress and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Analyse data, identify opportunities for improvement and support teams to implement sustainable change.
• Prepare and present reports, updates and briefings for senior leadership and executive teams.
• Facilitate workshops, coaching and shared learning opportunities to develop improvement capability across the Hospice.

What we\'re looking for

• Degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong project management knowledge and expertise, ideally supported by qualifications such as PRINCE2, APM or equivalent.
• Significant experience of managing multiple projects and programmes within healthcare, health and social care, or a comparable environment.
• Proven experience of delivering complex projects successfully, on time and within budget.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a wide range of teams and organisations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify solutions and overcome barriers to delivery.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage colleagues at all levels.
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against both short and long-term objectives.
• Experience delivering training or supporting the implementation of electronic systems would be advantageous.
