Job summary

YRS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Service Engineer to service and maintain garage equipment across Bedfordshire and surrounding areas. The role involves on-site visits to customer sites, diagnosing faults and performing preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.

You will be the face of the business to workshop owners and garages, requiring strong customer-facing skills, independent work, and reliable scheduling across multiple sites. Travel within the region is expected.

Qualifications

• Proven experience servicing garage/workshop equipment, essential.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Self-motivated, well organised and capable of field work.
• Excellent customer-facing manner with willingness to travel within region.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance on garage workshop equipment at customer sites.
• Respond to breakdown call-outs and repair faults on-site.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Build strong relationships with customers through reliable, professional service.
• Keep accurate service records and complete documentation to standard.
• Manage a daily schedule efficiently across multiple sites.

Our client is a well-established name in the garage and workshop equipment industry, trusted by workshops, dealerships and tyre centres to keep their essential equipment running — vehicle lifts, wheel balancers, tyre changers, and diagnostic equipment. As they continue to grow, they're looking for an experienced Service Engineer to join their team, covering Bedfordshire and surrounding areas.

The Role

This is a hands-on, field-based position servicing and maintaining equipment already installed at customer sites. You'll be the face of the business to workshop owners, dealerships and garages — carrying out routine servicing, planned maintenance, and diagnosing and fixing faults quickly and safely to minimise customer downtime.

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on garage workshop equipment, including vehicle lifts, wheel balancers, tyre changers and diagnostic systems
• Responding to breakdown call-outs and repairing faults on-site
• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Building strong relationships with customers through reliable, professional service
• Keeping accurate service records and completing documentation to standard
• Working independently while managing a daily schedule efficiently across multiple sites

What we're looking for
