Job summary

OBR Group is seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover Sheffield and surrounding areas. The role involves servicing, maintaining, repairing and installing hydraulic, mechanical and industrial machinery at customer sites, with a mix of planned maintenance and break/fix work.

You will diagnose faults, read schematics, complete service reports and build strong customer relationships. A full UK driving licence is essential for this field-based position.

Responsibilities

  • Servicing, maintaining, repairing and installing a range of specialist equipment at customer sites.

  • Reading technical drawings and manuals and completing service reports.
  • Building strong relationships with customers and delivering high standards of service.
  • Work safely and independently across customer sites.

Field Service Engineer

Sheffield & Surrounding Areas | Permanent | Up to £50,000 + Overtime + Van

OBR Group is delighted to be partnering with multiple established engineering organisations across Sheffield and the surrounding areas, who are looking to add experienced Field Service Engineers to their growing teams.

We have opportunities available for engineers from a range of backgrounds, including:

  • Hydraulic, mechanical and industrial machinery
  • Recycling equipment, mobile plant and agricultural machinery
  • Commercial, industrial and automatic doors
  • Lifting and workshop equipment
  • General mechanical maintenance and electromechanical engineering

These are hands-on, customer-facing roles involving a mixture of planned maintenance, servicing, fault finding, breakdown response, repairs, installations and commissioning.

The role

You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, repairing and installing a range of specialist equipment at customer sites. Duties may include:

  • Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control faults
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs
  • Dismantling, rebuilding and replacing components
  • Installing, commissioning and upgrading equipment
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings, electrical schematics and manuals
  • Completing service reports and digital job sheets
  • Building strong relationships with customers and delivering a high standard of service
  • Working safely and independently across customer sites
What we’re looking for

We would love to hear from engineers with previous field service, mobile or workshop-based experience. You may have worked on industrial machinery, hydraulics, doors, lifting equipment, mobile plant, recycling machinery, agricultural equipment, vehicle equipment or similar.

You will ideally have:
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills with basic electrical knowledge
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing machinery or specialist equipment
  • A practical, customer-focused approach
  • A full UK driving licence
