Job summary

VanRath Search & Selection in Lisburn is seeking a Service Engineer (Auto Electrician) to inspect, service and repair heavy vehicles and specialist equipment. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, perform preventative maintenance and ensure first-time fixes where possible.

The role requires a City & Guilds Level 3 in Vehicle Mechanical and Electronic Systems, strong fault-finding skills, and a valid driving licence.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Level 3 in Vehicle Mechanical and Electronic Systems - Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
• Substantial auto-electrical fault finding and repair experience.
• Experience with heavy goods/distribution/specialist vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle diagnostic systems and electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Full, valid driving licence.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, inspections and repairs on distribution tractors, heavy vehicles and specialist equipment.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and system faults using modern diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
• Undertake thorough inspections of accident-damaged vehicles and provide accurate reports to support repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance and repairs in line with manufacturer recommendations and safe working procedures.
• Ensure accurate completion of service, inspection and repair documentation.
• Aim to achieve a first-time fix while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.
• Work independently to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, while supporting colleagues and other departments where required.

An established transport and engineering business is seeking an experienced Service Engineer to join its team. This is a hands-on role involving the inspection, servicing, fault diagnosis and repair of a range of heavy vehicles and specialist equipment.

The Role

• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle diagnostic systems and electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Good understanding of relevant road traffic legislation - including vehicle weight restrictions and drivers' hours.
• Full, valid driving licence.
• Able to work under pressure, manage your own workload and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
