Job summary

Maintech Recruitment Ltd, on behalf of a long-established CNC machine tool manufacturer, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover customers across the UK. The role blends servicing with fault-finding, installation projects, and on-site support for high-precision machining centres.

Ideal candidates have a machine tool background, strong mechanical skills, and a willingness to travel nationwide. Company training is provided, with a favourable pension and healthcare package.

Qualifications

• Engineering background within the machine tool industry.
• Experience with a machine tool or lathe manufacturer or agent.
• Strong mechanical skills with some electrical knowledge. FANUC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out scheduled maintenance and service visits at customer sites.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults across CNC product range.
• Completing mechanical and electrical retrofits, including spindle exchanges.
• Supporting the installation and set-up of new machinery.
• Providing technical support and advice to customers.
• Working safely and in line with company procedures and health and safety regulations.

Location: UK Wide - Field Based

We are working with a long-established manufacturer of high-speed CNC machine tools, automation systems and additive manufacturing technology, with a heritage stretching back over 90 years. Continued growth across its UK customer base means the service team is now expanding.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will look after customers across the UK, keeping high-precision machining centres running at their best. The role has a strong mechanical bias and blends servicing and fault-finding with project work on new installations, with full product training provided.

This would suit an engineer from a machine tool background who enjoys variety, independence and life on the road, and wants to work with leading-edge CNC technology. It is a chance to join a stable, growing business that genuinely invests in its people.

Responsibilities of a Field Service Engineer:

• Carrying out scheduled maintenance and service visits at customer sites
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults across the CNC product range

Skills & Qualifications of a Field Service Engineer:

• Engineering background within the machine tool industry, covering installation, servicing and maintenance
• Previous experience with a machine tool or lathe manufacturer or agent
• Strong mechanical skills, with some electrical knowledge
• FANUC control experience would be an advantage
• Confident, customer-focused communicator who is comfortable working independently
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally, including overnight stays
