Job summary

Recruit Mint Ltd. seeks a Field Service Engineer to service, repair and install high-precision machinery across an Essex patch. You’ll deliver quality technical work with a balanced schedule, avoiding heavy travel and weekend shifts whenever possible.

The role offers a base salary up to £35,000 with OTE £50,000+, a company car, and performance bonuses, alongside a pension match and 22 days holiday. Expect structured hours, on-site training and European travel only if desired.

Qualifications

• Previous Field Service Engineer experience on high-precision machinery.
• Background in CNC lathes or metal-cutting equipment.
• Strong mechanical/electrical fault-finding skills and ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install precision machinery to manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose faults and repair CNC and metal-cutting equipment on-site.
• Order parts and complete repairs per technical docs.
• Coordinate with Service Manager on progress and issues.
• Train customers on general machine maintenance to reduce calls.
• Maintain detailed installation/service records.
• Attend training on new machinery to stay current.
• Work independently and manage own service schedule.
• Occasional travel to Europe if desired (optional).

Field Service Engineer - Essex

As a CNC Service Engineer, you'll cover a regional patch within the UK (Essex) - no nationwide scrambling, no constant weeks away from home. Job Responsibilities

• Install precision machinery including electrical, electronic, and mechanical components to manufacturer specifications
• Diagnose faults and carry out on-site repair work for CNC and metal-cutting machinery
• Order replacement parts and complete repairs in line with technical documentation
• Liaise with the Service Manager on job progress and flag any major customer or technical issues
• Train customers on general machine maintenance to reduce avoidable callouts
• Maintain detailed records and documentation for each machine install or service
• Attend training on new machinery launches to ensure up-to-date product knowledge
• Work independently and manage your own service schedule
• Occasionally travel into Europe if desired (optional - not mandatory)

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer working on high-precision machinery
• Background in CNC lathes, metal-cutting, or similar equipment essential
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
• Confident with PLC systems and ladder logic
• Able to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and manuals
• Proven ability to manage your own time and workload on the road

Pay and Benefits

• Salary up to £35,000
