Job Title: Mechanical Service Engineer / Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer, either from an on-site maintenance or field service background. We are a well-established SME British engineering company providing full after-sales and service support to clients of a major Italian packaging machinery manufacturer.

Salary & Benefits

• Basic Salary: Up to GBP 45,000
• Overtime: Circa GBP 10,000 (paid door to door)

Location & Travel

Covering the UK and Ireland (70%), with factory-based work in Corby (30%).

• Commutable locations: Corby, Peterborough, Northampton, Stamford, Leicester, Lincoln, Bedford

Job Description

This role involves repair, refurbishment, upgrades, installation, and commissioning of packaging machinery supplied to the food, pharmaceutical, and other manufacturing industries. The role is predominantly field-based, requiring travel to client sites (70%), with 1-2 nights away from home per week. Weekend work is voluntary, supporting a good work-life balance. The remaining 30% involves time spent at the factory in Corby.

Person Specification

• Experience as a field Service or Maintenance Engineer of industrial or special purpose machinery.
• Qualified Mechanical Engineer or completed a full apprenticeship.
• Electrical engineering qualifications or experience are a bonus.
• Experience with packaging machinery, ideally in food or pharmaceutical sectors, or any special purpose industrial machinery.
