Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer, either from an on-site maintenance or field service background. We are a well-established SME British engineering company offering full after-sales and service support to clients of a major Italian packaging machinery manufacturer.

Basic Salary: Up to £45,000

Benefits:

• Overtime earning circa £10,000 (paid door to door)

Location: Covering the UK & Ireland (70%), with factory-based work in Corby (30%).

Commutable Locations: Corby, Peterborough, Northampton, Stamford, Leicester, Lincoln, Bedford

Job Responsibilities

Mechanical Service Engineer / Maintenance Engineer role involving repair, refurbishment, upgrades, installations, and commissioning of packaging machinery supplied to the food, pharmaceutical, and other manufacturing industries. The role requires traveling to client sites approximately 70% of the time, with 1 to 2 nights away from home per week (weekend work voluntary). The remaining 30% involves work at the factory in Corby.

Person Specification

• Experienced field Service or Maintenance Engineer of industrial or special purpose machinery.
• Qualified Mechanical Engineer or completed a full apprenticeship.
• Electrical engineering qualifications or experience are a bonus.
• Experience with packaging machinery, particularly in food or pharmaceutical sectors, is advantageous but not mandatory; experience with any industrial or special purpose machinery is acceptable.

A small, well-established British engineering company providing full after-sales and service support for clients of a major Italian packaging machinery manufacturer. This is a new role created to cover upcoming retirement.

This is a highly regarded place to work, with over 20 years of client relationships. The ideal candidate may have worked as a Field Service Engineer, Site-Based Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or Multiskilled Engineer with industrial capital equipment, special purpose machinery, or in sectors such as food, pharmaceutical, medical, or chemical.
