Our client, an engineering company, is seeking a Automation Service Engineer (EICA Engineer) for a permanent position. This role is within a highly regulated industry.

The position is permanent, with a flexible location across the UK.

Candidates should be willing to obtain SC clearance.

Role

An opportunity to join a growing service team that covers a wide variety of industries and technologies. The Automation Service Engineer (EICA - Electrical Instrumentation Controls Automation) will work remotely, providing 24/7 support on a rota basis, both remotely and onsite, to a multi-industry client base. Reporting to the Service Operations Manager, this role is key to the growth and expansion of our automation service capabilities.

Main Responsibilities

1. Operate various PLC/PC automation software packages and diagnose faults using programmers.
2. Connect remotely to client systems (PC/PLC/SCADA) for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
3. Perform PC healthchecks, hardware replacements, backups, and system surveys, advising clients on risks and upgrades.
4. Make minor modifications to PLC code and systems, including hardware changes and small project deliveries.
5. Support sales with technical solutions, hardware/software selection, and specifications.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, or relevant discipline, or completed an engineering apprenticeship.
2. Experience in commissioning or maintenance roles, fault finding across multiple PLC brands (Siemens, Rockwell, Omron, Schneider, Mitsubishi).
3. Understanding of electrical systems and experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Omron PLCs.
4. Ability to connect to network systems and diagnose network health issues.
5. Ability to attain security clearance such as SC and CTC.
