Job summary

March is seeking a mechanically minded Service Engineer to join our growing team in the UK. The role involves working on pumps, rotating equipment, motors, gearboxes, or similar mechanical plant machinery, diagnosing faults and performing maintenance activities.

Experience in compressed air is beneficial but not essential. You will manage your own workload while delivering exceptional service to customers across the UK, with opportunities for training and career development.

Qualifications

• Experience working on pumps, rotating equipment, motors, gearboxes or similar mechanical systems.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with systematic approach.
• Background in maintenance or field service engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and maintain a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on compressed air systems and related equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using systematic fault-finding.
• Investigate failures and identify root causes to minimise downtime.
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance at customer sites.
• Inspect pumps, motors, compressors, blowers and other rotating equipment.
• Complete installations, upgrades and commissioning works.
• Complete service reports and maintenance documentation.
• Provide technical support and recommendations to customers.
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety procedures.
• Build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.

Job description

We are seeking a mechanically minded Service Engineer to join our growing team. This role would suit someone with experience working on pumps, rotating equipment, motors, gearboxes or other mechanical plant machinery who enjoys fault-finding, diagnosing issues and carrying out maintenance activities.

While previous compressed air experience would be beneficial, it is not essential. We are keen to speak with Maintenance Engineers, Mechanical Fitters, Pump Engineers or Service Engineers looking to broaden their skills and build a career within the compressed air industry.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll manage your own workload while delivering exceptional service to customers across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on compressed air systems and associated equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using a systematic fault-finding approach.
• Investigate equipment failures and identify root causes to minimise downtime.
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance activities at customer sites.
• Inspect pumps, motors, compressors, blowers, valves and other rotating equipment.
• Complete equipment installations, upgrades and commissioning works.
• Accurately complete service reports and maintenance documentation.
• Provide technical support and recommendations to customers.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues.

Skills and Experience

• Experience working on pumps, rotating equipment, motors, gearboxes, compressors or similar mechanical equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Background in maintenance engineering, field service engineering, mechanical fitting or a similar technical role.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Previous experience working within the compressed air industry (not essential as full training will be provided)
• Electrical fault-finding experience.
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience working in manufacturing, utilities, water treatment, industrial processing or engineering environments.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and reliability techniques.
