Job summary

Michael Page (UK) is partnering with a housing organisation in Manchester to recruit a Service Charge Project Manager on a 24-month contract. The role focuses on reducing deficits, ensuring service charges comply with regulations, and delivering improvements to the charges function through strong project leadership.

You will lead on service charge projects, liaise with customers and internal stakeholders, prepare annual budgets, respond to queries, and support forecasts with the Finance Manager.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing sector rents and service charges.
• Experience managing service charge processes and financial information.
• Strong knowledge of service charge calculations, records and reporting.
• Hands-on service charge role requiring high attention to detail, ability to organise workloads and communicate with stakeholders.

• Contribute to the review and development of rent and service charge policies and procedures
• Ensure systems and databases for service charges are up to date and accurate

Job Description

The Service Charge Project Manager is a pivotal role which enables our client to meet its ambitions and improve VFM (value for money). The role holder will use their rent and service charge knowledge and expertise to reduce historic service charge deficits and ensure charges to customers are compliant with all regulatory and legal guidelines.

• Lead on the successful implementation of the service charge projects
• Liasing with customers and relevant internal stakeholders to deliver on an improved service charge function that the organisation provides
• Preparation for review of the annual service charge budgets ensuring that, in particular, the service charge costs are accurately determined and charged.
• Resolution of customer queries or complaints relating to the service charge function
• Contribute to the preparation of forecasts on service charges in collaboration with the Finance Manager
• Help the organisation improve VFM and reduce annual service charge deficits.
• Contribute to the review and development of rent and service charge setting policies, controls, procedures guides and processes to maintain efficiency.
• To proactively ensure that the systems and databases used for the calculation and charging of service charges are up to date, accurate and contain all the relevant and required information.

The Successful Applicant

A successful 'Service Charge Manager' should have:

• Housing sector experience is a must within a Rents & Service charge capacity
• Experience managing service charge processes and related financial information.
• Strong knowledge of service charge calculations, records and reporting.
• This is a hands-on service charge role, which requires high attention to detail and focus at all times. There is a requirement for the ability to organise and prioritise workloads, plus the ability to maintain communication with a range of stakeholders
• This role would suit someone that is comfortable with change and development of a customer focused service, working with budget holders and management to effectively challenge assumptions and embed new ways of working where needed.

What's on Offer

• 24 month contract
• Salary of £51,000 to £54,000, dependent on the level of experience.
• Location: Manchester.
