Job summary

Thorn SDS is seeking a Server Engineer for Hereford to manage and maintain our server estate in a secure, mission-critical environment. This onsite role includes an on-call rota with paid, additional responsibilities and a focus on enterprise storage including Pure Storage FlashArray.

You’ll install, configure and support Windows Server environments, VMware/Hyper‑V, and associated storage, backup and DR solutions while collaborating with Cyber Security and Networking teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in Windows Server administration.
• Knowledge of VMware or Hyper-V virtualization environment.
• Experience with AD/DNS/DHCP and Group Policy.
• Strong storage management and backup solution experience.
• Proficiency with Pure Storage FlashArray administration.
• Storage capacity planning and lifecycle management.
• Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain physical and virtual server infrastructure.
• Support Windows Server environments and core services.
• Manage enterprise storage, backup and DR solutions (Pure Storage FlashArray).
• Administer storage replication, snapshots, SAN/Fibre Channel and performance monitoring.
• Oversee storage hardware lifecycle, firmware updates and reporting.
• Integrate storage with VMware virtualization and enterprise backups.
• Apply security updates and resolve infrastructure incidents; support tech refreshes.
• Create technical docs and collaborate with Infra, Networks and Cyber Security teams.
• Work with colleagues across Infrastructure, Networks and Cyber Security.
