Job summary

National Energy System Operator Limited (NESO) is seeking an SEP Engagement Coordinator to help ensure stakeholder involvement in our strategic energy plan. You will coordinate engagement activities, assist with events and communications, and maintain records to support reliable delivery across the SEP Engagement Team.

This role focuses on coordinating across SEP and NESO teams, delivering timely reports, and improving processes while ensuring high-quality stakeholder experiences.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working within the energy industry.
  • Strong administrative, planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage agreed tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience of working in large or complex organisations, supporting coordination across different teams, workstreams or priorities.
  • Experience of producing timely, accurate reports, updates and briefing materials.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, events, projects or stakeholder activities involving multiple contributors and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to check materials, records and reports for accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Good relationship-building skills, including the ability to work constructively with colleagues across different teams.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage own workload across agreed priorities and seek support when required.
  • A proactive approach to progressing tasks, identifying small improvements and supporting team members.
  • Comfortable flexing in line with changing priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver stakeholder engagement support across the SEP directorate.
  • Support the organisation and delivery of stakeholder events, forums, working groups, publications and communications, ensuring materials are accurate, timely and aligned with agreed quality standards.
  • Coordinate with colleagues across SEP and other NESO teams to help sequence activity, reduce duplication and provide a consistent stakeholder experience.
  • Maintain accurate records in Salesforce, including planned and completed activity, stakeholder feedback, insight and follow-up actions.
  • Contribute to SEP Engagement ways of working, guidance, templates and team processes, helping colleagues use agreed approaches consistently.
  • Improve defined coordination processes by identifying practical, proportionate improvements to how activities are planned, logged, reported or followed up.
  • Produce regular reports on completed and planned stakeholder engagement activity, supporting clear reporting of actions, themes, progress and risks for the team.
  • Support the running of stakeholder groups and forums, which may include industry, societal and place-based stakeholders, helping colleagues prepare, capture feedback and follow up actions.
  • Work closely with relationship managers and programme colleagues, escalating issues or decisions requiring managerial input.
  • Contribute positively to team meetings and discussions, sharing updates, identifying dependencies and supporting effective team delivery.

Job description

Key Accountabilities

The purpose of the role is to help ensure our stakeholders are aware of and involved in the development of our strategic energy plan. You will help the team to deliver clear, coordinated engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, ensuring their views and needs are shaping Great Britain’s future energy system. As a SEP Engagement Coordinator, you will work closely with colleagues across NESO to support the reliable delivery of high-quality engagement and business-as-usual activity. You will be responsible for providing coordination and some administrative support within the SEP Engagement Team. You will:

Decision-making in this role sits primarily at Input / Perform level. You will deliver agreed activities, provide information and recommendations to support decisions made by others, and execute any issues requiring managerial judgement, prioritisation or approval.
