Job summary
Spectrum IT Recruitment is seeking a Senior Windows Server Administrator for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Southampton. You will own complex Windows Server and broader Wintel infrastructure challenges, acting as a senior escalation point for high-priority incidents and collaborating on VMware-to-Azure Local projects.
The role emphasizes deep technical troubleshooting over merely following runbooks, with ownership of system relationships, clear explanation of decisions, and mentorship
Qualifications
- Extensive Windows Server experience and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to diagnose issues under pressure and explain reasoning clearly.
- Willingness to travel within Europe when required.
Responsibilities
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
- Support projects involving virtualization and hyper-converged infrastructure.
- Contribute to the move from VMware towards Azure Local.
- Work across server, storage, file, email and collaboration systems.
- Mentor other IT Administrators within the team.
- Support security, resilience, capacity and regulatory requirements.
- Research new technologies and recommend practical, cost-effective solutions.
