Job summary

Humanoid in London is seeking a Staff Robotics Control Engineer to lead the evolution of whole-body control for the Wheeled Alpha platform. You will mentor engineers, define performance metrics, and integrate control with safety systems, hardware, and product direction.

The role requires deep optimisation-based control expertise, experience with real-time control, and strong C++/Python skills, with an emphasis on reliability and production-level engineering.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in optimisation-based whole-body control and hierarchical/weighted QP formulations.
• Experience deploying whole-body controllers on humanoids or mobile manipulators in real hardware.
• Strong background in real-time control; familiarity with solver timing, warm-starts, and failure modes.

Responsibilities

• Lead evolution of the Wheeled Alpha whole-body controller, including task formulation, prioritisation, weighting, and solver selection.
• Coordinate base, torso, and dual-arm motion within a single formulation for accurate, stable performance under aggressive commands.
• Own constraint handling, safety interfacing, and recoveries when solvers fail; push toward MPC-based control where appropriate.
