Job summary

Recruit Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Fabricator & Assembly Technician to join a specialist engineering manufacturer in Suffolk. You will fabricate, weld and assemble bespoke components from detailed drawings, using MIG, TIG and MMA processes within a busy production environment.

This permanent role offers varied, hands-on work on unique projects, quality-focused assembly, and opportunities for training and long-term career progression.

Qualifications

• Proven welding experience in a fabrication environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate structural and architectural components using MIG, TIG and MMA welding.
• Manufacture bespoke fabrications from metals.
• Construct frames, platforms and mounting assemblies from drawings.
• Operate fabrication equipment (saws, rollers, presses, grinders).
• Ensure components meet drawings and quality standards.
• Assemble mechanical systems including bearings, motors and gearboxes.
• Install and align moving components for safe operation.
• Carry out testing and fault-finding on assemblies.
